Hessonite Announced for Steven Universe Game

A New Character Arrives

Steven Universe Save The Light

Steven Universe fans, it’s time to get hyped! Cartoon Network has announced a new, officially canon character for the upcoming game Steven Universe: Save The Light. Written in collaboration with series creator Rebecca Sugar, Hessonite is an original and mysterious Homeworld Gem that will first appear in the upcoming console RPG before making her way into the show.

A pompous Homeworld commander, Hessonite directs the previously showcased Squaridot and has come to Earth to turn the Prism back into a powerful weapon after taking it from Steven. She is voiced in the game by Emmy and Tony Award-winning actress, Christine Baranski.

Steven Universe: Save the Light is a PlayStation 4 and Xbox One sequel to mobile RPG game Steven Universe: Attack the Light. In Save the Light, players will assemble a party of playable heroes and face them off against various foes and powerful bosses in battles mixing both real-time and turn-based elements. There’s also a relationship system with effects both in and out of battle that unlock powerful team attacks and character combining fusions such as Stevonnie (Steven and Connie), Opal (Amethyst and Pearl), Sardonyx (Garnet and Pearl), Smokey Quartz (Steven and Amethyst) and Sugilite (Garnet and Amethyst).

The game features an original storyline crafted by Rebecca Sugar and developed by Grumpyface Studios. Players will find characters and enemies both new and old as they explore a variety of 3D environments from the show. Environments include Beach City, Strawberry Battlefields, and The Great North.

Steven Universe: Save the Light is scheduled for launch on October 31st, 2017 for Sony PlayStation 4 consoles. Xbox One gamers have to wait a few more days for a November 3rd release. The game is currently available for preorder on the Xbox Games Store.

This represents a big jump for developer Grumpyface Studios, as their first console titles. With their previous Steven Universe mobile title receiving critical acclaim, they should be well positioned to make this step.
