Well now, it looks like Summer 2018 just got a little … faster. At Paris Games Week, Codemasters and Deep Silver announced a new arcade racing title – ONRUSH – coming to consoles next summer!

Featuring action packed, gravity defying racing across all sorts of courses and terrain, ONRUSH is being developed by Codemasters Cheshire-based development team that includes talent formerly at the late Evolution Studios (Driveclub). Based on the initial trailer, the game appears to feature a variety of off-road cars and motorcycles with a few fantasy boosts. Codemasters calls it a celebration of sensational speed, outright fun, and over-the-top spectacle.

ONRUSH Game Director Paul Rustchynsky said, “We are extremely excited to finally be able to talk about ONRUSH. The team grew up playing iconic, arcade racing games so it is great to have the opportunity to re-imagine those experiences on today’s consoles and bring something fresh to the market. We believe that it is something that gamers are crying out for.”

“The most important factor in the game is that it has to be fun. It is not about tire choices, car setups or even racing lines; it’s about edge of your seat action and taking death defying risks in order to reap the biggest rewards,” continued Paul.

ONRUSH is currently scheduled for a Summer 2018 release on Sony’s PlayStation 4 console and Microsoft’s Xbox One family. For petrolheads who prefer their racing action to skew more towards fun than realism, this looks like it could be a pretty promising title. Codemasters, of course, have been a leading developer and publisher of racing games for over three decades now. Adding members of the Driveclub team, plus the publishing capabilities of Deep Silver, promise good things for this title.
