The Materia Collective announced that they were pleased to unveil the latest installment in their Pokémon Piano Collections album series which focuses on the original Pokémon titles that started it all. Composer, pianist, and arranger, Trevor Alan Gomes seeks to bring his own personal sound to what is arguably the best-known video game music of the last twenty years. Mr. Gomes has worked primarily as a pianist for The Walt Disney Company and has worked on score preparation for multiple Disney films including Finding Dory, Skyfall, and Passengers.
During his free time, Mr. Gomes, under the alias 88bitmusic, enjoys streaming a live show here and there on Twitch which focuses primarily on improvisation, songwriting, and sight-reading music. Outside of career success, Mr. Gomes holds a Master’s Degree in Music Composition from the University of Cincinnati. In his rendition of various Pokémon music entitled Pokémon Collection, he seeks to bring to life thirty-eight tracks from the games that launched the Pokémon franchise, Red/Blue/Green/Yellow.
Shoppers looking to pick up the Pokémon Piano Collections will have the option to choose between four different album covers inspired and featuring a unique rendition of fan-favorite Pokémon Charmander, Squirtle, Bulbasaur, and Pikachu. The Pokémon Piano Collection will feature 38 tracks covering almost all of the music from the generation one and will have listeners entertained for 100 minutes with classic Pokémon music that has been composed to be beautiful and lively; fans of the Pokémon franchise will be able to relive some of their favorite moments from the original Pokémon games.
“There are piano albums like this for many games, but the vision that drove this one was unique: it’s comprehensive and narrative-driven, spanning the entire soundtrack of the game in chronological order to tell the entire story that millions have loved since 1996,” notes Trevor Alan Gomes. Together with an amazing team, I’ve had the joy of taking the simple, charming 8-bit music of Pokémon Red and Blue and turning it into lush, expansive piano arrangements.”
