Fresh from being shown off on PC Gamer’s Weekender show, THQ Nordic and Experiment 101 have released a nicely cinematic gameplay trailer of their upcoming open-world action RPG Biomutant. The trailer showcases a nice variety of the game’s Wushu inspired martial arts moves, as well as some of the unique augmentations players can give to their characters.

Biomutant’s unique design allows players to change their character’s abilities and appearance with powerful mutations, bionic prosthetics, and innovative weapons. Grow claws, sprout wings, or attach a robotic leg. Each character choice will have an effect on how your character plays in the 3rd-person, real-time combat system that blends martial arts and firearms.

Set in a post-apocalyptic universe and featuring a variety of not-so-cute-and-cuddly animals as the main characters (Rocket Racoon would be right at home here), Biomutant features in interesting combination of serious firepower mixed with cartoony action and lush, colorful worlds. Players can navigate the open landscape with a variety of mechs, paragliders, balloons, mounts, jet skis, and other things.

Marooners’ Rock’s own Joseph Siemsen went hands-on with Biomutant last year at PAX West. We were sufficently impressed with the game that it garnered one of our Best of Show nominations as well.
