At E3 2015, the world was ecstatic when the stage went black, the cherry blossoms started to fall, and Shenmue creator Yu Suzuki came on to the Sony press conference screen. In the trailer, he talked about how the Shenmue story was unfinished, but he was determined to create Shenmue 3 with the help of the gaming community. The Shenmue 3 Kickstarter’s goal was set at two million dollars but with the help of 69,320 backers, the Kickstarter was able to raise 6,333,295. At the moment, Shenmue 3 is currently scheduled to be released later in 2018 but may be delayed until 2019 with the re-release of Shenmue 1 and 2 coming to PS4, Xbox One, and PC later this year.
Last week, Sega Europe announced that the beloved epic saga Shenmue 1 & 2 would be re-released for the current generation of consoles excluding the Nintendo Switch.
