If you like “Battle Royal” and/or “League of Legends,” you will want to keep an eye out for “Battlerite Royale.”
Stunlock Studios has just released another Development Update for their new MOBA brawler, coming to Steam this summer! As of now, much like “Battle Royale,” each player will be dumped onto the island with only their primary and Ultimate abilities available. Otherwise, each contender must scrounge for the rest of the Champion’s toolkit if they want to win.
Aside from the other players looking to murder you, the game is complicated by various weather effects. These will not only conceal players, but will make it all the harder to find abilities, equipment, and consumables. Unlike “Battle Royale,” however, abilities and whatnot can drop multiple times. Thus, you are not S.O.L. if you are scavenging places that other players have already visited.
Potential Changes:
As of now, Battlerite Royale is still in its Alpha phase, so plenty is subject to change. As of now, they are addressing balancing issues regarding champions. The team is also considering changing how the Battleriteswill work. Currently, each player will select a Battlerite loadout at the start of each match, much as in Arena, and you can find more as you go. That might prove unfair in the end, so keep an eye out for further updates. More than anything, though, they are hoping to make this game more accessible for new players.
“The Arena is very competitive and intense… and for new players this can be discouraging, especially when hopping into queue for the first time. Battlerite Royale is meant to be a more relaxed experience… Skill will absolutely still be a factor. But it is less punishing to new players, allows for downtime between action and a chance to adjust to circumstances.” — Elizabeth Hirata, Sunlock Studios Community Manager
They are hoping to impose environmental hazards before release too. For the moment, though, they are more concerned with optimizing and the core gameplay. Yet even if it does not appear in the game’s initial release, it could very well show up later!
