Yesterday, Bethesda teased everyone with a very subtle “Please Stand By” message on Twitter, which of course got everyone excited as players know exactly which franchise this is referring to. Many were speculating this was either a new Fallout game, or maybe even a Fallout 4 port for the Nintendo Switch. Just this morning, Bethesda officially announced Fallout 76 with a teaser trailer.
The trailer begins with the just mentioned “Please Stand By” message followed by the Bethesda logo. Once the trailer gets going, we get a nice cover of John Denver’s “Take Me Home, Country Roads,” which can mean any number of things, the obvious choice being that the next entry will take place in West Virginia. My guess is that Fallout 76 is most going to take place in some rural American setting. We know for sure that the 76 is referring to this game’s vault.
Of course the details are going to be scarce when it’s this close to E3, but Bethesda did state in their press release that it will be for PC, Xbox One, and Playstation 4. Kotaku recently stated that Fallout 76 may be an online game of sort, but they’re not for sure either. We’ll know more details at E3 at Bethesda’s press conference, which is scheduled for Sunday, June 10 at 6:30 p.m. PT.
