Finally, after two long months of waiting, the Call of Duty community can finally have a glimpse into where there Call of Duty Black Ops franchise is heading after the Call of Duty Black Ops 4 Community Reveal Event. The community reveal started out with players around the world getting an extended recap of how the Call of Duty franchise has grown and evolved over the last decade. Throughout the trailer, different aspects from Call of Duty Black Ops 1, Call of Duty Black Ops 2, and Call of Duty Black Ops 3 are highlighted such as Zombies, Multiplayer, and CoD’s Campaigns. This recap of the franchise would ultimately tie into the final reveal of the Call of Duty Black Ops 4 Community Reveal.
First to the stage was Mark Malia, Treyarch’s Studio Head, who was excited to thank the Call of Duty community for their commitment to the franchise throughout the years. In his open speech, he discussed how Black Ops was able to grow and take new chances thanks to the trust that community had given. In the speech, Mr. Lamia discussed how zombies started out as an Easter Egg in World at War into a full-blown craze that has spanned over the last decade.
“Black Ops 4 is a game that gives you more ways to have fun with your friends, it’s the deepest most replayable game in our history. We are expired by your passion for playing are games online whether for months or years.”
Next Dan Bunting and David Vonderhaar came to the stage to introduce and reveal the Black Ops 4 Multiplayer Universe. The Black Ops 4 Multiplayer Universe will feature a new narrative design that will take place between the timeframe of Call of Duty Black Ops 2 and Call of Duty Black Ops 3. The Black Ops 4 Multiplayer trailer feature new skill sets, weapons, and features that will change the way Call of Duty multiplayer is player. Dan Bunting and David Vonderhaar confirmed that there will be no thrust jumping, no wall running, and is 100% boots on the ground. Multiplayer will stick with the Guns Still Up motto even when players are using scorestreaks, mantling, sliding, or using equipment. The new gun system focuses on high attention to details with each gun having their own unique attachments. A new Operator mods system has been created to help players customize their weapons and have a unique layout. Players will now have to decide when to heal after the announcement that there is no longer automatic healing. Healing now has a dedicated button that players must activate but in doing so limits what the player can do. A new true productive recoil system has been created to show players how their bullets are being shot in high-definition and allowing for players to be able to adjust their shots to deal with each guns spray. In addition to the new healing system and gun mechanics, a new Fog of War feature will limit what players will be able to see on the minimap based off of their location which increases situational awareness and teamwork. At the end of the multiplayer reveal, it was announced that League Play would be returning
Specialist return with special equipment that is unique solely to them. The specialist Ruin returns to the black franchise with a grapple gun to pull him across different environments. Recon also makes his return with a sensor dart ability that creates a large radius in order to help teammates locate enemies; his unique ability, Vision Pulse, has now been modified to allow teammates to also be able to see the pulses. Crash, a medic, will restore and give bonus health to players over a limited amount of time. The specialist Seraph focuses on the flow of combat with the ability to tactical deploy a spawning point for her teammates. Torque has the ability to create and place deployable barricades and barbed wire fences. The final specialist, Firebreaker, has a reactor core that can make certain areas of the field damaging and by lessening his life, makes the Reactor Core last longer. In order to create a memorable bond with each specialist, they will have their own solo missions in order to give an insight into the characters past, and abilities.
Treyarch announced that they are partnering with Activision-Bungie to bring Call of Duty Black Ops 4 to Battlenet. Players will have the opportunity to interact with their friends, add random players, and chat all through the use of Battlenet. Black Ops 4 will have dedicated servers for PC Play.

In order to introduce the next phase of Treyarch Zombies, Jason Blundell took to the stage to show off the world reveal trailers. Call of Duty Black Ops 4 will issue in the new chapter into the zombie storyline by introducing a new world, characters, and evil organization. Craig Houston, Lead Writer for zombies, was welcomed to the stage to give further insight into the new world, new characters, and the ancient order trying to tear change the world by nefarious means. In the first trailer, the four new characters, Bruno, Diego, Shaw, Ms. Rhodes, are transported to a gladiatorial arena where the new adaptation of Zombies are created through ancient Egyptian artifacts. Throughout each trailer, the characters are depicted to be using swords and other melee instruments to take down the undead. A giant unique zombie is seen bursting out a human carcass, which could potentially be a special round boss or an overarching enemy that players will have to strategically work around.
Players will now have the ability to use customizable tools and social tool to create a unique experience each game; players will be able to create custom mutations change the rules of each game whether by changing zombies health, damage, and even movement speed. A Black Ops Authenticity Stamp will be used to help players track leaderboard stats for each customer creation. A new Callings system will set new goals for the community to achieve throughout each event or week and potentially reward players with special prizes for reaching each goal. A new bot system will make its debut in Call of Duty Black Ops 4 allowing players to team up with bots rather than real life players. The final new zombie’s feature is called Zombie Rush where players will have the ability to adjust the difficulty of each zombie game. The major announcement for Black Ops 4 zombies is that the game will launch with three different zombie maps; players will have the opportunity to kill zombies on a cruise ship in Voyage of Dispair or Reunite with the original zombies’ cast, Takeo, Richtofen, Dempsey, and Nikolai as they teleport to Alcatraz in Blood of the Dead.
The final announcement of the event was that Battle Royal would be coming to Call of Duty in a new map called Black Out. The new Black Out mode will allow players to battle by Land, Air, and Sea. Players will be able to play as their favorite Black Ops Characters whether it be the Masons, Resnov, Menedez, Woods, Takeo, Richtofen, Dempsey, or Nikolai. All weapons, equipment, and gear will all be added to the new Black Out map.
Call of Duty Black Ops 4 is scheduled to be released on October 12th for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
