"Dark Souls: Remastered," Bandai Namco, PS4, XBox One, PC, Nintendo Switch - Banner Title Art

The rerelease that many have been waiting for, and many others criticizing, “Dark Souls: Remastered” is now available on the PS4, Xbox One, and Steam for the PC! For you hardcore fans out there, this is a chance to re-experience an old favorite in stunning detail. For those who are new to the series, this might be the opportune time to check out the first title! Don’t let Bandai Namco’s cheerful logo deceive you, though. This game is as dark as its name implies.

“Dark Souls: Remastered” will wrench us back into Lordran, where we will face madmen in armor and mind-bending monstrosities. Whether reacquainting yourself or experiencing “Dark Souls” anew, get ready to experience the series’s tacit motto of “If at first you don’t succeed, die die again!” “Dark Souls: Remastered” also contains the DLC “Atorias of the Abyss.” Delve into Lordran’s history and discover the famous Knight Atorias’s fate.

The Dynamic 4K resolution on the PS4 Pro, XBox One X, and Steam promises to draw you into the gameplay like never before. You will get to enjoy every drop of your blood as it goes flying from your body with each careless mistake that introduces you to the business end of your enemy’s sword. Then, experience the overwhelming triumph and catharsis of when you finally defeat a boss after your forty-eighth try.

As before, there will also be a covenant system, in which nine online factions can cooperate or hunt each other. Up to six players can interact at a given time. Whether this is to aid or murder is up to you. Just keep an eye out for that would-be friend who wants to literally stab you in the back.

Bandai Namco also plans on sharing the misery with the Nintendo Switch later this summer. Get ready to hop on The Pain Train, Nintendo players!

An English and Western Laws & Ethics graduate from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, Matt’s doing his best to find his way back to Middle Earth or Naboo. However, the closest he can get is reading, writing, or gaming, so he’s trying to accept his lack of pet dragons and devoting himself to those things instead. In his spare time, he practices traditional Chinese Ken-Po in the hopes that he will someday become an Earth Bender.
