Capcom and iam8bit have announced that they will be kicking off the 30th Anniversary of the Mega Man franchise and “Mega May” with something truly special for fans of the Blue Bomber, and more specifically, fans of Mega Man 2 and Mega Man X. For $100 each, you can own a new, limited edition reproduction of Mega Man 2 as a NES cartridge and Mega Man X as a SNES cartridge. Even more exciting is the fact that these cartridges are playable on their original systems, should you still have them.
Capcom and iam8bit will be releasing 8,500 of each item. 7,500 of them will be opaque, light blue for Mega Man 2 and white for Mega Man X, while 1,000 of each item will be a special “Translucent, Glow-in-the-Dark Blue”. These special cartridges are randomly put into sealed, unmarked boxes so you won’t know which one you received until you open one up.
Both editions are expected to ship in late September of 2018.
