Pokémon GO Fest to Return to Chicago This July

While the first Pokémon GO Fest in Chicago of last year was a disaster that ended in a $1,575,000 lawsuit after trainers ran into connectivity issue after connectivity issue that made it quite difficult or impossible to catch any Pokémon at the event, Niantic is ready to try again with Pokémon GO Fest 2018: A Walk in the Park. On July 14th and 15th of 2018, Pokemon Trainers from around the world will be able to head to Chicago for an event that celebrates the worldwide phenomenon that is Pokémon GO. While the event took place at Grant Park last year, Niantic is moving the festivities to Lincoln Park, which offers a 1.8-mile walking path. Along this path, there will be “physical installations and exclusive activities for trainers of all ages.” Furthermore, these won’t be limited to in-game activities either.

Niantic is hoping that the bigger space will alleviate some of the congestion experienced last year, and to further ensure stability and encourage trainers to spread out, the $20 ticket will allow you to catch Pokémon in other parts of Chicago as well. These single-day passes will be available to purchase beginning on May 11th from the event website. The event page will also have details for hotel accommodations and further information as it becomes available.

In addition to Pokémon GO Fest 2018, there will also be a Safari Zone event in Dortmund, Germany from June 30th to July 1st in Westfalenpark. This will be an open event and will allow you to catch many different types of Pokémon. There will also be a Safari Zone event in Yokosuka, Japan later this summer and much more to be announced at a later date.
