The newest Pokemon TCG (Trading Card Game) expansion based off of Pokemon Sun & Moon has officially been released. The newest expansion entitled, Pokémon TCG: Sun & Moon – Forbidden Light, will be available to purchase at participating retailers around the United States. The Forbidden Light Expansion originally launched in Japan on March 2nd, 2018 with only 110 cards in the set, whereas the United States version released on May 4th and featured 146 cards in the set.
The New Pokemon TCG Sun & Moon Forbidden Light Expansion features 146 new cards, including five Prism Star Cards, eight Pokemon-GX cards, six Ultra Beasts, fifteen Trainer cards, and two Special Energy cards. Pokemon Trading Card Game players will have the opportunity to pull Lucario-GX, Greninja-GX, Zygarde-GX, Yveltal-GX, Volcanion Prism Star, or Arceus Prism Star from the new set.
Each Pokemon TCG Sun & Moon Forbidden Light booster pack contains 10 cards per pack guaranteeing at least 1 rare card and 1 basic Energy card. The Forbidden Light Expansion will also feature two new Alolan theme structure decks; the two new structure decks are the Tropical Takedown deck features Alolan Exeggutor and the Twilight Rogue deck features Lycanroc. According to Bulbapedia, the Tropical Takedown deck predominately focuses on grass type Pokemon. The Twilight Rogue structure deck features psychic and fighting types.
In order to celebrate Pokemon Duel reaching 34 million downloads, new in-game content will be available to redeem throughout the month of May. Players will have the opportunity to unlock Alolan Raichu when they log in. Players will also have the opportunity to also receive Shaymin Land and Sky Forme, One free Booster Ticket per day, and Booster 10-Packs that have the possibility of containing Legendary Pokémon Xerneas and Yveltal, as well as nine brand-new figures. Looking back, the cards everyone collected in the late 90’s and early 2000’s would be easily defeated by the newer generation of cards.
