For our fellow Rick and Morty fans out there, Cryptozoic Entertainment and Cartoon Network Enterprises has a treat for you. They have just announced their Rick and Morty tabletop game The Ricks Must Be Crazy Multiverse Game, coming out on May 30th!

The game is based on the episode The Ricks Must Be Crazy, in which you might recall that Rick investigates a power failure in the Microverse which he has created as a power source for his spaceship. That means that the players of Multiverse will be doing much the same thing.

Up to four people, playing as Rick, Morty, Zeep, and Kyle, must introduce various types of Power Supplies to several worlds and, using that power, activate Contraptions before their competitors do. Doing so earns Victory Points and the winner is the first to score the requisite points. All of this happens within four “’Verses,” each with their own variations on rules: The Rickverse, Microverse, Miniverse, and Teenyverse.

Also, as per Adult Swim standards, the game is meant for ages 17 and older. Considering the show, though, you might want to reconsider playing this game with Grandma in the room.

The game’s Lead Designer, Matt Hyra, described this as “an engine-building game in a way.” The players can spend their Actions to move between various ‘Verses and build Power Supplies and Contraptions there. In the Power-Up phase, where power generates from these Verses, the players can utilize that energy to use One-Shot cards, Character Abilities, or amp up their Contraptions.

“Power Supplies don’t have ownership, so if you can predict where a Power surplus will appear, you can take advantage of it … if your opponents don’t get to it first!” — Matt Hyra, Lead Designer

An English and Western Laws & Ethics graduate from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, Matt’s doing his best to find his way back to Middle Earth or Naboo. However, the closest he can get is reading, writing, or gaming, so he’s trying to accept his lack of pet dragons and devoting himself to those things instead. In his spare time, he practices traditional Chinese Ken-Po in the hopes that he will someday become an Earth Bender.
