Bandai Namco has just today confirmed that they will be releasing their new game “Code Vein” on September 28th, 2018 for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC! For those of us out there who have dreams of a JRPG with fast-paced action, a dark storyline, and “Dark Souls” levels of difficulty and fighting styles, those dreams might be about to come true!
I mean, seriously! Just check out this trailer! I’m worried that they have too many spoilers in it, but hey! It’s certainly enticing!
The Story:
The story takes place after an apocalyptic event destroys all of human society. The only surviving people are within a single settlement called Vein. However, people have changed in order to survive. Those living in Vein are known as Revenants. Granted power at the cost of their memories and a penchant for using other people as slurpees, these Revenants fight to reclaim their pasts and to create a better world. However, there is always the temptation to desire more blood. Should they submit to that urge, they become one of the Lost. These ghoulish creatures have reverted to pure, predatory instincts in their insatiable hunger for blood.
“Dark Souls”/Anime Crossover?
Bandai Namco seems to have latched onto their “Dark Souls” formula. “Code Vein’s” combat is heavily inspired by the hit franchise, as is the dismal atmosphere. Players also have been promised the same level of customization through a multitude of weapons, armor, items, abilities, and gifts. This should facilitate a whole mess of fighting styles as players wrestle against a world that is out for blood.
In this new title, players will also have the benefit of an A.I. controlled partner in battle! Aside from providing a sigh of relief when they distract enemies in combat, each of them will boast their own skills and personalities. They will be with you each step of the way as you discover the secrets of this broken world together.
“Code Vein” will be playable at E3 in the Los Angeles Convention Center (June 12-14, 2018) at the Bandai Namco Entertainment America Inc. booth. For those of you lucky enough to be there and have a map, that is South Hall, #1647
