Well that was…pretty damn awesome! As the Xbox E3 press briefing was coming to a close, it was randomly interrupted and the screen showed it’s currently being hacked. From then we saw the word “Red,” immediately following a trailer for CD Projekt Red’s highly anticipated game, Cyberpunk 2077.
The trailer opens up with a narration who may or may not be our main protagonist. Throughout the trailer we get to see much of the game’s open world where danger is a constant threat, but yet everyone apparently wants to live there, a “city of dreams,” as our narrator puts it. I’m quite surprised by how bright the game looks, as previous trailers and screenshots gave me the impression we would be exploring a sort of Blade Runner style world with it’s neon lit city shrouded in darkness.
The trailer is essentially a cinematic trailer, however it was quick to let us know this all in game footage. I doubt we will get to see more of Cyberpunk 2077 at this year’s E3, as I’m sure this trailer was mainly to drive some buzz. The release may be a couple years away as we weren’t even given an estimated time, so for now we can let the hype train begin.
