To help promote the launch of Killing Floor 2’s recent update, The Summer Sideshow: Treacherous Skies, developer Tripwire Interactive has announced that the critically acclaimed co-op shooter will be free this weekend on consoles. As of today, the free weekend starts today for Playstation Plus and Xbox Live members, which will run until Monday, June 25.
For those unfamiliar, Killing Floor 2 is a co-op first person shooter that drops players into continental Europe where they fight off hordes of ruthless enemies (Zeds) that were the result of a failed experiment. The game has been known for it’s accessible team-based mechanics, but it’s biggest draw is the brutal and over-the-top combat. At any given time, the screen will turn black and white, which then let players shoot Zeds in stylish slow-motion, often with gory and satisfying results. As the match progresses, the hordes of Zed become more aggressive, forcing players to always be on their toes.
The free weekend will also give new players the opportunity to take part in the game’s recent update: The Summer Sideshow: Treacherous Skies. This new updates ups the ante in the ridiculous nature of the title, adding some unique new Zeds such as robots and clowns. Here is the list of new features the update includes:
- Help Lockhart reach his home island on the command airship by completing a series of increasingly challenging objectives
- Players can look forward to seeing this fan-made community favorite map officially available for the first time in KILLING FLOOR 2
- M99 AMR Sniper Rifle for Sharpshooter
- Static Strikers for Berserker
- Doomstick for Support
- Goreshiv Survivalist Knife
- Upgrade any weapon!
- Players can now take any of their favorite weapons and make them viable for late-game play
- Players can reset their perk after reaching perk level 25 to get exclusive weapon skin for their perk along with vault dosh rewards
- A totally new playable character DLC with her own voice which is localized in all supported languages
- English voice done by the talented Claudia Black!
