If you enjoy putting a bit of personal flair into your gaming, then Xbox is about to make you quite pleased! Starting (June 19th), Xbox Insiders will have access to a whole new beta Xbox Avatar Editor app. Soon, the Xbox dashboard integration system will be available too!

Already the team has released a mess of new appearance and clothing options. They promise that more accessories, props, moods, clothing, and appearance categories will come along soon and in regular intervals. By noon today, members of Alpha and Alpha — Skip Ahead will have access to this beta Editor through the Xbox Insider Hub’s “Insider” content tab.

Getting Detailed:

Xbox has revealed that these new Avatars can be made with precise details. A range of body types and gender-neutral clothing will allow players to wear and modify whatever they want. If something appeals to you, nothing will stop you from using it! Furthermore, Xbox Avatars will also feature new items and accessories, such as fingernails, makeup, limbs, and piercings.

Please don’t make the guy on the right. Orange does NOT look good on a tan guy with blonde hair. Trust me, I know.

The colors for each aspect of your Avatar are quite flexible too! The team claims that each and every feature, such as skin tone, wearables, and props, can support over 16 MILLION color options. That doesn’t even include the customization possible for the various closet items.

With so much flexibility and so many options, however, it would be easy to lose track of your preferences. Xbox has thus ensured that recently used colors will be readily available in the “my colors” section of the color menu.

If You’ve Got It, Flaunt It:

The Photobooth feature in this Editor will allow players to snap a multitude of different photos that they can use for their Gamerpic. What better way to show off your creation than to make it your online face?

The Photobooth will allow various emotes, which can be paused and advanced frame-by-frame in case you want to capture that perfect moment. The zoom controls also seem to have gotten an upgrade too!

Good to see they’re keeping at least some handy-capable people in mind!

Keep in mind, your old Avatar will NOT be deleted with this update. If you want to create something new, good for you. If you want to go with an old favorite, then that’s great! Let’s see just how creative people get with this new editor!

An English and Western Laws & Ethics graduate from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, Matt’s doing his best to find his way back to Middle Earth or Naboo. However, the closest he can get is reading, writing, or gaming, so he’s trying to accept his lack of pet dragons and devoting himself to those things instead. In his spare time, he practices traditional Chinese Ken-Po in the hopes that he will someday become an Earth Bender.
