One of the biggest selling points for DICE’s Battlefield V is the Grand Operations mode, which is essentially just a beefed up version of the popular Operations mode from Battlefield 1. It has just been announced that the upgraded mode won’t be available at the game’s initial launch on October 19. Instead, DICE and EA have stated that the mode will be included in a major update “shortly after launch.”
We are unsure as to how long shortly means. Hopefully, this won’t mean that the initial game will be lacking in content on launch day. There still looks to be quite a good amount of modes at launch, which I’m sure will include the original Operations mode. For those unfamiliar, Grand Operations is basically three matches of the Operations mode, taking place over the span of about three in-game days. DICE has stated that each Grand Operations match will last roughly an hour, and even longer if it becomes a close game. If a team played well in the first round, then the next round will may start with a hefty amount of supplies and ammo. The opposite of this may happen if they play poorly on the first round.
DICE and EA have also made a comment on how the Grand Operations mode is a way to get players to experience more of the maps. As each round takes place on a new map, it will get the players familiar with each setting, while also keeping the game fresh over the span of an hour.
Battlefied V is set to launch on October 19 for PC, Xbox One, and PS4. There is talk of some other “hands-on opportunities” before launch, so this means there could be another beta, maybe being open this time instead of closed.
