Over the last year, many members of the Xbox community have criticized the Games with Gold titles feeling that Microsoft was not offering enough AAA titles in the free monthly program. Last Month, the Games with Gold program offered Xbox Live Gold members the option to download Assault Android Cactus, Death Squared, Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown, and Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Conviction. At the moment, Xbox Live Gold members can still obtain and download Assault Android Cactus and Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Conviction for free until July 31st, while Death Squared will remain free to download until August 15th. Although July’s Games with Gold titles were decent, August’s offer makes July’s look like ground beef vs August’s Filet Mignon.
August’s Games with Gold offer for 2018 will give Xbox Gold members a variety of genres to play throughout the month of August. Throughout the month of August, Xbox Live Gold members will the option to down Forza Horizon 2, For Honor, Dead Space 3, and Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two. The four AAA titles will allow Xbox Live gamers to either play a shooter, racing, fighting, or adventure game throughout the month of August.
Starting on August 1st, Xbox Live Gold members can download and play Forza Horizon 2 and Dead Space 3. Forza Horizon 2 ($19.99 ERP) will be free until July 31st. Race and drive across the breathtaking landscapes of France and Northern Italy. Drive over 200 exotic cars while showing off your virtual driving skills in challenging races and events; Forza Horizon 2 offers a dynamic weather system that can alter based off of the time of day.
After two successful franchise titles, Dead Space 3 looked to add a cooperative experience to the horror franchise but sadly lost its horror element along the way. Dead Space 3 ($19.99 ERP) will be free until August 15th. Players reunite with Isaac Clarke as he joins Sgt. John Carver as they seek to destroy the Necromorph plague once and for all.
Starting on August 16th, Gold members will have the ability to download For Honor Standard Edition and Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two. For Honor ($59.99 ERP) will be free until September 15th; players will have the option to rage strategic war against intelligent AI or online against other talented foes. Will your army prevail or will you learn from the defeat and live to fight another day?
Although it may be the last title on the list, Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two ($19.99 ERP) will grant players the ability to pick up a magical paintbrush in a heroic Co-Op adventure. Save the world of Wasteland with the help of Oswald the Lucky Rabbit and other classic cartoon characters. Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two will be free until August 31st.
All four of these titles provide Xbox Live Gold members the opportunity to prepare for their counterparts upcoming release later on in 2018/2019. Will Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two excite audiences for Kingdom Hearts 3? Will Forza Horizon 2 have players around the world putting the pedal to the metal for Forza Horizon 4? Will Anthem succeed where Dead Space 3 failed? and finally will For Honor bring around a new audience in time for For Honor – Season VII: Storm and Fury after server issues damage the games initial launch?
