“Frost” is a deck-building survival adventure set in a post-apocalyptic, frozen wasteland. Digerati, the Indie publisher in charge of the release, says that it will head our way in just a couple of weeks. The PS4 release will be July 17th for North America and the 18th for the E.U., while the Nintendo Switch version comes out on July 19th and Xbox One copies will be available on July 20th.
Created by Jérôme Bodin, “Frost” places you in charge of a group of nomads who are struggling to find their way to the Refuge. This semi-mythical place is said to be immune to the deadly ice storm that sweeps the planet and is likely your only chance at survival.
Getting there will be no walk in the park though. You will have to contend with vicious wildlife, starvation, cannibals, and the omnipresent exhaustion that entices you to sit down in the snow and close your eyes. The only way to get through is by carefully managing and utilizing your cards. Otherwise, you and your people will sink into the white landscape along with everything else. Not much of humanity is left now, so you can only rely upon yourself and those you lead. No one is coming to save you.
The Game:
Digerati boasts that this game is challenging and will require a keen mind for strategy and memory. You will need to juggle a variety of card types, from resources and weapons to ideas and regions. The bleak, yet mesmerizing soundtrack ought to prove immersive. Furthermore, this new take on deck building and survival games should provide hours of gameplay. Various difficulty modes, an endless mode, scenarios, and unlockable cards paired with new characters that you and your tribe can encounter will keep you on your toes.
