Battlefield V has been under the radar quite a bit lately due to their news of pre-orders being significantly lower than expected. Many factors seem to play into these projected lower sales. On one hand, EA has been working hard to get back into the good graces of it’s consumers as it seems the ghost of Battlefront 2 still haunts them today. On the other hand, it’s a matter of just a super stacked list of competitors heading into the Fall season. Battlefield V was originally slated for an October 19 release date, but this was in between two juggernauts in the industry; Blacks Ops 4 and Red Dead Redemption 2. Not to mention, we have many big releases in September that are sure to burn a whole in gamers’ wallets. There is a reason October is appropriately named Broketober. All that being said, it’s no surprise that EA is choosing to post-pone the Battlefield V release date to November 20.
In a statement released today by EA, they state that there were a few factors that went into this decision, which mainly include feedback that the community has been passionate about. EA mentions how improvements to the game’s mechanics is a huge reason for the delay, which includes adjusting the gameplay tempo, improving soldier visibility and reducing player friction. With the open beta right around the corner, this could give DICE even more feedback to implement with the added development time.
The Battlefield V Open Beta is still scheduled for all gamers on September 6. The full game will now be released on November 20.
