Kitfox Games’ ‘Boyfriend Dungeon’ Heads to Kickstarter, New Trailer Released

The Montreal-based developer headed to Kickstarter today with their latest game, Boyfriend Dungeon. This romance adventure puts a new twist on the dungeon crawler genre with the ability to transform weapons into gorgeous people everyone wants to date.

Featuring procedurally generated levels, Boyfriend Dungeon puts both gameplay and relationship-building at its core. Swords and daggers will help with crowd control or more intimate combat, while taking your weapons on dates will unlock their personal histories and level them up so the two of you can become the ultimate power couple. There are five datable swords: Talwar, Dagger, Epee, Lasersaber, and Glaive. Each transform into a different person with their own unique background and personality. Not sure which one you want to date? The developer recommend you take their Wielder Test to discover your best match. (I got Lasersaber, the one-in-a-million sword.) The game may be called Boyfriend Dungeon, but the dating options are anything but only cisgendered and straight. Kitfox Games calls their dating system an “inclusive, tasteful approach to gender and sexuality, including male, female, and non-binary romance.” Girls names are not only for rifles in this game.

Kitfox Games also notes that their game has won two awards at BitSummit, and has been selected for showcases, including the PAX West Indie Megabooth and the Damage Camp Arcade 2018. At this time it has already raised $40,000 of it’s goal. So by our guesses it will be funded in the next few hours.

Boyfriend Dungeon is set to release in 2019 on Steam for PC, Mac, and Linux. For more information, check out the game’s website and their official, new trailer below.
