Too often do we see negativity in the video game industry. These can either be feuds between rival companies, studios closing down with no notice, and also the horrifying Bowsette fiasco that Nintendo is dealing with. *shudders* However, today we at Marooners’ Rock want to recognize one company that has captured many people’s hearts in the past couple of months (this includes our editor Andrew when he reviewed their most recent game) by showcasing their positivity.
Aksys games is not a new studio by any means, founded in 2006, but over the past few months it has done a fantastic job of reminding folks who they were with their endearing title Little Dragons Cafe. While the reviews have been mixed to positive, when it first came out I kept seeing people on my Twitter talking about how they were playing and addicted to it. Needless to say, it was a standout title.
This morning Aksys games announced they would be pledging $10,000 of the profits from Little Dragons Cafe to Extra Life! For those of you unfamiliar with Extra Life, it is a gaming charity that donates 100% of the money to help save lives at Children’s Miracle Network hospitals around the United States. Akibo Shieh, founder and CEO of Aksys Games had this to say: “We wanted to partner with Extra Life because their campaign to mobilize the gaming industry to work together has raised millions of dollars in the past 10 years for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and helped to heal thousands of kids.” Good on you Aksys games! Many of us here at Marooners’ Rock participates in Extra Life year round, so we hope this positivity warms your heart as much as ours.
