Sony Interactive Entertainment is giving games a sneak peak this week of what’s to come at next week’s Tokyo Game Show. Today, they showed off some new teaser footage of DEEMO -Reborn- and announced that the game’s main theme, along with other in-game music, will be produced by EGOIST.
Now for folks wondering “What exactly did I just watch?” or “What is DEEMO anyway?” I’m glad you asked! DEEMO was originally an iOS and Android title released in 2013, and still currently available, at least on iOS. The game received critical acclaim when released, as it is a unique blend of score-based music gameplay coupled with an emotionally gripping plot and gorgeous animation. In 2015, DEEMO: Last Recital was released for the PS Vita, and featured remastered cutscenes, extra story, and competitive and cooperative multiplayer modes. A Japan only port to the Nintendo Switch was announced in 2017.
Billed not as just another remake of the original, DEEMO -Reborn- is promised by Sony to include even more gameplay elements, new voice acting, and more cinematic cutscenes. The game will be coming to the PlayStation 4, and will also include PlayStation VR support. Players will be able to dive deeply into the world of DEEMO like never before to unravel the mysteries of this fanciful world through puzzle solving and musical gameplay.
Development on DEEMO -Reborn- is being handled by developer Rayark. The team promises to raise the bar on quality, and bring the world of DEEMO to life in a whole new way.
Musical group “EGOIST”, who will be producing the game’s main theme and other in-game songs, is a well known Japanese music group originally formed for the anime Guilty Crown. As of this writing, every album and single released by “EGOIST” has hit the top ten on the Japan Oricon charts.
DEEMO -Reborn- is currently planned for a Spring 2019 release on the Sony PlayStation 4.
