While showcasing the upcoming Fallout 76, Bethesda had stated that the game will feature a B.E.T.A. (Break-It Early Test Application) prior to release. Today, Bethesda announced the dates of the B.E.T.A., which begins October 23 for Xbox One exclusively, and then on October 30 for PC and Playstation 4.
In order to play the B.E.T.A., players will need to make sure they already have the game pre-ordered. According to the Fallout 76 FAQ page, the B.E.T.A. is the full game, and all progress will carry over into the main game when it launches a few weeks later on November 14. So the B.E.T.A. is essentially like early-access to the title. Bethesda also notes that constant updates will go on during the B.E.T.A., which may shut down the servers throughout, but players will be well-informed prior to this happening.
Here are Bethesda’s official steps on how to receive access the B.E.T.A:
After pre-ordering Fallout 76 from participating retailers, such as Amazon or GameStop, players will receive a code on or with their physical or digital receipt. PC players can simply redeem this code on the Bethesda Launcher to gain access to the B.E.T.A. once it’s available. However, if you play on console this code is not your actual B.E.T.A. code. To receive your B.E.T.A. code, please follow these steps:
- Create a free Bethesda.net account. If you already have an account, proceed to step two.
- Log into your account and redeem the code that came with your receipt to entitle your Bethesda.net account to the Fallout 76 B.E.T.A.
- Your B.E.T.A. code will be made available on this account page once the B.E.T.A. is live on your respective platform (October 23 for Xbox One, October 30 for PS4)
- Redeem your B.E.T.A. code on your console to participate
In addition to this announcement, Fallout 76’s official intro has been released on YouTube, which is sure to excite fans due to Ron Perlman’s famous “War never changes” monologue. Check out the trailer below.
