Launching This Week: Heavy Fire: Red Shadow

Heavy Fire Red Shadow Splash 2

Do you have a soft spot for fixed position rail-shooter FPS games such as Beach Head 2000? Then have we got some great news this week, as Indie developer Mastiff is launching Heavy Fire: Red Shadow on the PlayStation®4, Xbox One, and Steam platforms this week!

Set against a fictional first strike scenario where North Korea invades Guam, players take on the role of Sergeant Will, one of the few survivors of the Norc’s initial missile barrage, as he jumps into a gun turret to repel a large-scale North Korean assault. Enemies attack from all sides, and players can choose to either battle through an eight stage campaign, or go for a high score in Endless mode.

Heavy Fire: Red Shadow released on Steam and PlayStation on Tuesday, October 16th. It will arrive for the Xbox One on Friday, October 19th. A physical special edition is available exclusively at Walmart for the PS4, and includes not only the PlayStation®4 version of the game, but also the PS VR version.

Heavy Fire Red Shadow Splash 2

This is probably not the best day to try and get a tan.

This is the third Heavy Fire game released by Mastiff. The previous two were Heavy Fire: Afghanistan, and Heavy Fire: Shattered Spear, both released on for PC and PS3. It’s tough to say that the rail-shooter is making a comeback, but hey, every other genre seems to be enjoying an indie revival these days, why not budget shooters that involve blasting wave after wave of enemies? There are definitely worse ways to pass an afternoon.
