It had been speculated that Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2 would have a companion app of sorts. Rockstar later confirmed this and they have now updated their site with new information on what the app will entail.
The Red Dead Redemption 2 Official Companion app will be available to download the same day of release for both iOS and Android. With the app, players will be able to view the world map separately from the game and set waypoints as well as points of interest for later. I’m sure Red Dead Redemption 2’s physical edition will come with an actual map like previous Rockstar open-world games, and this new map lets players take it a step further. The Companion App will also allow players to view Arthur’s stats and core info in real-time. We’re very confident that the upcoming sequel will be absolutely stunning in it’s visuals, and many players will want to turn off those HUD’s to soak in every inch of detail. Still, removing a HUD comes with the price of not seeing Arthur’s information such as his ammo and equipped weapons, so this new app will definitely assist with this.
Additional features of the app will include Arthur’s personal journal, Social Club tracking, and a digital version of the game’s manual. Rockstar also states that an option to receive a digital version of the Red Dead Redemption 2 Complete Official Guide from Piggyback will also be available. It was not stated yet if this will be a free digital guide or not. Here are some screenshots from the official site. Red Dead Redemption 2 launches this Friday, October 26 for Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
