Spyro Drone Delivering Snoop Dogg an Early Copy of Reignited Trilogy

There are some things that only happen in the gaming industry and this is one of the most absurd, yet hilarious things we’ve ever seen. Apparently, Activision is using a Spyro drone to deliver a early copy of the Reignited Trilogy to Snoop Dogg and it’s traveling from New York to wherever Snoop lives in California. This follows Snoop sharing his excitement about the reveal of the drone on Twitter. He asked, and Spyro agreed to take the journey.

This is more than a typical drone that those anxious of the government might shoot down, although this one does seem inherently more dangerous. This drone is a life-size replica of the little purple dragon that also breathes fire and spouts iconic voice clips from the games. Spyro has left New York already and people can follow his journey on social media. It will also make other stops in the US and anyone who happens to see it overhead should definitely take a picture.

Again this is one of those things that shows just how creative marketing can be in the video game space. We’ve seen people freak out over Nuka Cola sodas for a Fallout promotion, a crossover between Final Fantasy and Ariana Grande, and ramen noodles prominently displayed in Final Fantasy XV. With the importance of social media in driving interest in a game, it makes sense that Activision would create something like this for people to talk about and get excited if they see it.

Spyro Reignited Trilogy follows a similar path as the well-loved N. Sane Trilogy that brought back Crash Bandicoot. Toys for Bob clearly have a love of these games that they’re trying to capture and update and we can only hope that they’re able to pull it off with Spyro.

For more information on the release, check out the official website. Also be sure to follow both Spyro and Snoop Dogg on Twitter for some fun updates on the drone’s trip. The Reignited Trilogy recreates the first three Spyro the Dragon games that were originally made by Insomniac on the PSOne and will launch on PS4 and Xbox One on November 13th with pre-orders obviously available now. It’s also being sold at the humble price of $39.99 and in a current sea of shell-price games and spreadsheets of special editions, it’s pretty refreshing.
