When Edge of Eternity finished their Kickstarter campaign with nearly four times the amount they originally were campaigning for it was clear that the final product needed to deliver. Now three years later, it is soon time to see if the developer, Midgar Studio, will come through and deliver. This long wait is being made just a little bit longer to finish polishing up before releasing. Originally set for November 29th, the Early Access release date is now December 5th.
It’s an interesting choice for an early access game, as it is usually implied that the product isn’t finished yet. Maybe hoping to make a stronger and more stable first impression. This can be important for a game trying to deliver a sprawling epic. Extra layer of polish can be what helps players stick around after the first few hours.
The trailer does a decent job at showing off it’s influences from both Western and Japanese RPGs. The wide open world of landscapes, character, monster, and enemy designs, and even the logo design hints at the inspirations that Midgar Studio drew from. There is a lot to look forward to it seems though as Edge of Eternity boasts these features!
