It’s been about a month since Ubisoft’s Asassin’s Creed: Odyssey was released. So far, it’s clear that Ubisoft kept their promise to constantly update and support the title throughout the coming year. Ubisoft CEO, Yves Guillemot, even stated in an interview with Gamespot that fans should not expect a full-fledged AC game in 2019. Rather, the team is going to put its time and resources into Odyssey with new game features and DLC.
Ubisoft recently updated their site with some news on what to expect this month for Odyssey. At the beginning of the month, we got Update 1.06, which most notably adds the first Lost Tales from Greece episode. The best part about these episodes is that they are completely free as part of the update. There is still a Season Pass for Odyssey, which will contain two huge story expansions. Fans who didn’t want to cough up the extra cash can still enjoy these free features.
In addition to the live events, there will also be a new mythical creature bosses dropped into the game throughout the year. For November, players will get a chance to take on the legendary Cyclops, Steropes. This giant beast will come with a quest later this month called The Lightning Bringer. Defeating this boss will give players a new Legendary Bow. The nice thing is that there is no time limit on these mystical creatures, unlike in Origins where these bosses were only timed events.
There will also be some exciting new features to come, such as a new arrow auto-crafting mechanic soon to be introduced. Ubisoft is also planning to balance and decrease the costs of upgrading gear to higher levels, something that I’m very excited about. Upgrading a piece of gear to a new level is extremely inconvenient and expensive. Upgrading my Bow should not cost the same amount of materials as upgrading my Ship’s Hull.
My favorite of these new system will be a new customization option where players can change the look of their gear. It’s more specific though to other pieces of gear however. Players will be able to combine the stats of one item and the appearance of another into the same slot. For example, if a player has a piece of head gear that has some amazing stats, but is horrendous to look at, they can combine it with a different piece of head gear and take that appearance instead. I for one will be taking all my Warrior focused head pieces and turning them into hoods.
Oh but there’s more! The biggest update that will roll out in November is a Level Cap increase. The Level Cap will be raised to 70 this time, and this will be available to all players. Now for those who reached level 50 weeks ago, Ubisoft promises that these players will rewarded with new ability points for the XP already received.
