Bandai Namco Announces Next Batch of Fighters for Tekken 7

Tekken 7

During the TEKKEN World Tour Finals event in Amsterdam yesterday, Bandai Namco announced the next fighters headed for TEKKEN 7 in the current Season 2 pass. The first two, Armor King and Craig Marduk, are available starting today, December 3rd.

After making his first appearance in TEKKEN 4, Craig Marduk has been a series fixture in every subsequent iteration. His absence from TEKKEN 7’s original release was explained in-game by him being in the hospital recovering from a severe out-of-ring fight. It would appear that he’s gotten better.

Armor King makes sense to return at the same time, since he was Craig Marduk’s opponent in that fight. The Jaguar-masked fighter is another character with a long history in the series.

Tekken fans who watched Armor King’s reveal video all the way to the end also caught a glimpse of the final unannounced character for Season 2: Julia Chang.

This fan-favorite character dating all the way back to Tekken 3 doesn’t have a launch date yet. However, given that she’s shown in the character reveal videos filling in the slot after Marduk and Armor King, but before Negin, it seems likely that she’ll be the next character to be released.

From the official reveal, the continuation of Marduk’s and Armor King’s stories went like this:
The fates of jaguar-masked luchador Armor King and Vale Tudo-champion Marduk became forever intertwined when Marduk killed Armor King’s brother and wrestling partner—the original Armor King—in a bar fight during the events of TEKKEN 4. Since then, a violent rivalry has festered between them, with battles being waged both inside the ring and out; their most recent brawl left them hospitalized and unable to compete in the 7th King of Iron Fist Tournament. Now, both heavyweight bruisers are back and ready to continue their conflict as the latest characters to join TEKKEN 7.”

Tekken 7 is available now for the Microsoft Xbox One, Sony PlayStation®4, and PCs via Steam.
