Fans of the original PlayStation are having a good couple of years! Seeing some of the console’s most classic titles getting updated ports for PS4 (Final Fantasy IX looks especially phenomenal). Plus the complete overhaul was done to the original Crash and Spyro trilogies allowing people to relive their childhoods and introduce these games to a whole new generation of gamers. On top of all that Activision has announced that Crash Team Racing, or CTR, is being refueled as Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled. Just like with Crash and Spyro it’s getting a treatment that makes it look like how we always imagined it looked, becoming fully realized and looking like an animated feature film about a bunch of racing animal-human hybrids.
Crash Team Racing came out when everyone had a cart racer, and CTR rose to the top to the point that even today some people say its the best cart racer ever made. With Mario Kart being the industry standard and really the only cart racer on the market right now will CTR Nitro-Fueled be what it takes to revitalize the genre? We will find out because, on June 21, 2019, fans will be able to experience the game again in a whole new way! The trailer shows off the updated visuals, the cast of characters, weapons, and tracks to expect to see in the final release. It’ll be interesting to see what price point will be placed on CTR Nitro-Fueled as while it looks to be an amazing remaster it doesn’t include a trilogy of games like with Spyro and Crash.
Are you ready to re-enter the world of Crash once again and experience the thrill fueled cart racer that helped make the Playstation what it is? What do you think made CTR so much fun? Which character or weapon was your favorite? Let us know in the comments!
