10 years have passed since the release of Kingdom Hearts 2 on the PlayStation 2. Since the release of the game in 2005, fans of the franchise have eagerly awaited the return of Sora, Riku, Kairi, Donald, and Goofy but have become frustrated due to the continued release of backstory filled Kingdom Hearts titles. Now, with less than two months from it highly anticipated release, the file size for the Xbox One verison of Kingdom Hearts 3 has been revealed.
Earlier this week, gamers had the opportunity to get a glimpse at how much storage space they will need to allocate before the official release of the final installment in the beloved trilogy. According to the Xbox marketplace, the digital version of the game states that it only requires 35.81 GB of space on the Xbox One. This is shocking to the rumored sheer volume of the game. How did Square Enix manage to compress Olympus, San Fransokyo, Corona, Monsters Inc, Toy Story, 100 Acre Woods, Pirates of the Caribbean, and any other unannounced worlds in to such a small amount of space?
Although the base game is listed as only needing 35.81 GBs of space, this does not include any day one got fix patches which could possibly take up another 20 GBs. The online listing on the Xbox Marketplace states that Kingdom Hearts 3 is Xbox One Enhanced.
Digital pre-orders of Kingdom Hearts 3 on Xbox One comes with the Phantom Green Keyblade. Over the last six months, a variety of retailers have announced a special Keyblade from pre-ordering the game through them. Hopefully, each of the pre-order keyblades will be cosmetic only and not offer any special bonuses. If each keyblade does provide a unique bonus hopefully it will be uniform across each of the preorder keys just with visual effect differences.
Kingdom Hearts 3 is scheduled to be released on January 25th in Japan and January 29th, 2019 worldwide on Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Gamers may have the ability to change their location to Japan in order to get the game early.
