Games Done Quick, the week-long speedrunning marathon for charity, is at it again with their Awesome Games Done Quick (AGDQ) event for 2019. Again proceeds of the event go towards supporting The Prevent Cancer Foundation. Starting midday on Sunday January 6th, the event will go continuously till Saturday January 12 in the evening. As usual AGDQ 2019 will hope to break previous marathons record of the amount raised, which is over $2.2 million!
Throughout the event there are a ton of donation incentives, some add/impact content of the marathon like extra runs or having a character wear a specific costume, other incentives include prizes donated from various studios and individuals. Artwork, consoles, games, and more are available to win. If you want to donate you can do so here! https://gamesdonequick.com/tracker/ui/donate/agdq2019
AGDQ was my introduction to the world of speed running and I’ve been an avid fan of the marathon ever since! Watching talented people show off their skills is a blast. Seeing games be broken and beaten in times I never thought possible. Special events like races and glitch showcases bump up the fun even more. The runners tend to also give commentary on their runs during AGDQ giving viewers context for what they are seeing. When watching the runners individually you may not get that as they are practicing and attempting personal bests or even world records.
Despite their incredible dedication and amount of money raised, you rarely see anything if at all covered of this event in news outlets. So if you find yourself watching, be sure to share the stream with others!
You can watch the stream below and check the schedule to see if there are any games you specifically want to tune in for!
