Mortal Kombat 11 Trailers and More Revealed at Special Event

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment hosted an event in Burbank, California for Mortal Kombat 11. At the event guests and the world were treated to a first look at the upcoming Mortal Kombat. The world revealed showcased high impact fighting between new and returning fighters.  Mortal Kombat 11 will feature an immersive story that will focus on a more personalized experience. The event was live streamed to the world through Twitch and featured multiple special guests.

The Mortal Kombat event didn’t just feature Neverrealm staff but also welcomed three major wrestling personalities, Ronda Rousey, Xavier Woods, and the  American Nightmare Cody Rhodes.  Although Rousey has a busy schedule due to her WWE career, the former UFC champion and Olympic medalist, she managed to be the voice of Sonya Blade. In the Sonya Blade trailer, the character is seen executing her enemies in multiple ways including a spike, a helicopter, a broken ribcage, a turret, chainsaw, and a scythe.

“I’ve been a lifelong Mortal Kombat fan, and Sonya Blade was the first kick-ass, female video game character that I related to,” said Ronda Rousey. “Now I get to voice her in Mortal Kombat 11. It’s a dream come true to be a part of the Mortal Kombat franchise that I grew up playing.

“We’re thrilled to showcase Mortal Kombat 11 and reveal the gameplay, new features and epic characters to the fans,” said Ed Boon, Creative Director, NetherRealm Studios. “We have an amazing community, and it’s an honor to share this celebration of the Mortal Kombat franchise with all of our passionate fans around the world.”

The Mortal Kombat 11 event had a  lot of announcements including:

A gameplay reveal trailer featuring an original music track created in collaboration with international DJ, Dimitri Vegas, titled “You’re Next.”

Players were also introduced to the MK XI Story Mode, which teased a new time-bending narrative. Players learn of the first female boss in  Mortal Kombat history; the first female boss is named Kronika and she is the Keeper of Time and creator of existence.  In the trailer, she hints at counteracting Raiden’s plans and molding the universe to what she desires.

Multiple fighters were announced including Baraka, Raiden, Skarlet, Scorpion, Sonya Blade, and Sub-Zero.

A new fighter named Geras was announced. Geras is a powerful and loyal servant of Kronika, who is able to manipulate time, along with fan-favorite characters.

All Mortal Kombat 11 preorders for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 will receive Shao Kahn as a playable character and receive beta access to the game. The MK XI beta is scheduled to start on March 28th, 2019.

The Mortal Kombat 11 Kollector’s Edition was revealed and will include the base game, Kombat Pack, Scorpion mask bust, exclusive steel case, commemorative magnet , oin and authenticity plate.

During the event, a montage of the most iconic Mortal Kombat Fatalities was showcased depicting some of the most gruesome and over-the-top Fatalities throughout the franchise’s history. Top sneaker artist and MK Kollective ambassador, Mache revealed six custom-designed Mortal Kombat 11-inspired Under Armour Anatomix Spawn basketball shoes. Mortal Kombat 11 is scheduled for release beginning April 23, 2019, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, the Nintendo Switch, and PC. The game seems rather gory but potentially a lot of fun.
