Earlier today, Nintendo announced that the upcoming Metroid Prime 4 development has been restarted, and switched with a different company at the helm.
The announcement came via a video on Nintendo’s YouTube channel, which is included below, by Nintendo’s senior managing executive officer Shinya Takahashi. He stated that in its current state of development, this next chapter in the Metroid Prime series was not living up to the standards that Nintendo is willing to accept and ship with.
The video also announced that Metroid Prime 4’s development studio is also switching. Bandai Namco was previously the studio at the helm for developing the game, but has relinquished the game to Metroid Primes original creators, Retro Studios, who developed the original three Metroid Prime games.
After this update, development has been halted completely and restarted with Retro Studios, so it’s safe to assume that we will have at least another two years before we hear anything new on the project, as Metroid Prime 4 was originally announced back in 2017 at E3.
