Woah! That's Alotta Money!

Over $2 Million Raised for Prevent Cancer Foundation at AGDQ 2019

As the finale run of the this year’s Awesome Games Done Quick event came to a close, Samus flew off into space after beating the bosses in reverse order, and the final numbers were tallied. AGDQ 2019 broke $2 million dollars, $2,394,668 to be more precise. This marks an all-time high in donations for the Bi-annual charity marathon, beating the previous record of $2.2 million! All proceeds are going to the Prevent Cancer Foundation.

This years event as always featured some incredible runs all in the name of charity. My own personal favorite runs this year were

Diablo II by MrLlamaSC
Legend of Zelda Windwaker HD 100% by Linkus7
Chex Quest by Peaches
Monkey King by Brossentia
Urban Yeti! by PeteDorr
Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace by Saintmillion
God of War II by RagnellGoW
Portal race by alex_sr, and ConnorAce
Final Fantasy IX by Tojju, Muttski, and Luzbelheim

Each of these runs featured great commentary and skill! In particular I loved the Final Fantasy IX run, despite it being 9.5 hours long I watched it from start to finish! It really is something to turn an easy 60+ hour experience into 9.5 through nearly non stop little tricks and tips. The fact it was also run by 3 people over its course made it interesting as well.

As for entertainment, I’d recommend going and checking out Urban Yeti and Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. Both are hilarious games with great commentary! All of these runs and the rest of AGDQ is available as VOD on Twitch and their YouTube Channel.

Now we look towards their Summer event, Summer Games Done Quick! Which will be hosted right here in my home state in Bloomington Minnesota on starting on June 23rd to June 30th! I hope to attend!

Which runs was your favorite? Do you have plans to attend or submit a run to future GDQ events? Let us know!
