A surprising reveal came this evening when Nintendo announced release dates for two of its upcoming titles, one of them most of us didn’t expect would be this soon.
Nintendo has a history in recent times of releasing information such as game announcements, console announcements, and release dates in their own press releases, or, Nintendo Directs. The last Direct Nintendo did was on November 1st, 2018, with the whole Direct focusing on more information and reveals for their latest hit Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, which released on December 7th, 2018. Almost two months later, Nintendo fans haven’t had their Direct fix, and have been getting antsy.
Nintendo took to Twitter tonight to announce release dates for Kirby’s Extra Epic Yarn, a Wii game coming to the 3DS with some new features, and Yoshi’s Crafted World, a new Yoshi game set in a cut-and-paste world for the Switch. At the beginning of March we get Kirby’s Extra Epic Yarn on March 8th, and Yoshi’s Crafted World at the end of March on the 29th. Yoshi’s Crafted World was one of the games that Nintendo announced at E3 2017.
The residual tweets to the Yoshi’s Crafted World announcement has fans a little confused as to the form of announcement that Nintendo took this time. “I thought this would be in a Direct,” user @viknik312312 on Twitter stated, along with “But why announce it here? Wouldn’t it have been better if they saved this for the direct?” from user @kelvinrios1 .
No word yet on if Nintendo will announce a Direct for the month of January.
Stay tuned to Marooners Rock as we keep up on news for these two titles!
