I think it’s safe to say that the next Borderlands game is going to be announced at this upcoming PAX East. It’s one thing to speculate, but with a recent Tweet from Gearbox, it’s okay to assume that Gearbox will showcase their highly anticipated game later this month.

As you can see from the Tweet, the area is cell-shaded, much like the world of Borderlands. It’s a cryptic tease, yet not cryptic at all considering we all know what it means. Now we all knew Gearbox is working on another entry to their successful series, but nothing about the game has yet to be announced or shown. So this means we will get the official announcement of Borderlands 3 (or whatever they choose to call it).
We’re going to assume that the announcement will come with some sort of release time frame. Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford has stated that they plan to release their next game not long after it’s been announced. With it being so early in the year, this leads me to believe that we will get Borderlands 3 in 2019. That being said, Pitchford has always been sneaky with his words, so who’s to say he was even talking about Borderlands.
The Gearbox Panel will be on March 28, which is being held in Boston.
