At PAX 2019. Gearbox revealed to guests and viewers around the world the fate of popular Gearbox franchises. Although the primary focus of the panel was Borderlands and Borderlands 3, Gearbox revealed a new DLC for We Happy Few, Bulletstorm on the Nintendo Switch ft. Duke Nukem, and a Tiny Tina card game. After a slight hiccup with revealing the 4K Borderlands release and a visual update to the Handsome Jack Collection. The panel ended with the world reveal of Borderlands 3 with no official release date being announced. The world reveal allowed viewers to see new villains, weapons, abilities, vehicles, and characters. Although the new characters were not officially named, gamers witness a villainous duo raining terror to the wasteland while seeing four new distinguished characters who will have to reclaim territories in the absence of Handsome Jack. At the end of the showing, Gearbox announced that more information would be revealed on April 3rd on the release date of Borderlands Remasted and 4K update.
In an April Fools Day joke yesterday, Gearbox’s Twitter account announced that Borderlands 3 would be released worldwide on Septemeber 13th, 2019. Some could write off this announcement as an April Fools day prank, but Gearbox has been known to release Borderlands titles in September and reveal their games in unusual ways. New information regarding Borderlands 3 is scheduled to be announced sometime tomorrow, but a rumor is going around that the new information about the game will drop at 12 pm EST.
