Cadence of Hyrule Potential Release Date Leaked

Cadence of Hyrule Potential Release Date Leaked

Earlier this afternoon, Gamespot reported on a potential release date of an upcoming sequel to Crypt of the Necrodancer, Cadence of Hyrule.

First, what is Cadence of Hyrule? If you haven’t had a chance to watch the Nintendo “Nindies” Direct from March 20th, 2019, you may have missed the trailer for this game. You can watch the full Direct here, and you can check out the Cadence trailer below.

Cadence of Hyrule is a direct sequel to Crypt of the Necrodancer, which is out now on every major platform (Switch, Xbox One, Playstation 4, Playstation Vita, Steam, and iPhone/iPad). Crypt is an “award winning hardcore roguelike rhythm game” where you control your character by pressing directional buttons in beat to the current song. Each area has a different tempo to get used to. To attack, you press in the direction of your foe, also in beat. Cadence expands on this game and explores the land of Hyrule, with new characters, Link and Zelda. Link is the one with the dress right?

Cadence of Hyrule will have a randomly generated overworld, as well as dungeons to conquer. Playing into the theme of the Legend of Zelda series, you will also be able to use weapons, items and spells from the world of Hyrule, ones that you should seem familiar with in your previous adventures with Link.

The exciting thing about this game is that there are 25 remixed songs from the Legend of Zelda series made for this game. Nintendo has always been strict about letting anyone other than themselves use their classic tunes, and for Nintendo to not only let a third-party company use the characters, but also the music from one of their top series, is a big step. I personally have always been a lover of the Zelda tunes, and I’ve been very excited to dive into this game ever since it was announced.

Let’s talk about that release date shall we? As said earlier, Gamespot reported that there might be a potential leak of the release date, which hasn’t been officially announced yet. On the official Nintendo page for the game, Cadence is listed with a release date of “Spring 2019.” Most would look at that and just wait for it to come out or for an official release date announcement, but if you dig a little deeper, you get a hint. By viewing the pages source code, and scrolling down a little, you will find a line that says “releaseDate: May 30th, 2019,” as you can see in the picture below.

While this could very well be a placeholder, it would make sense as we are getting close to the end of Spring now. Until Thursday comes, we are just going to have to wait, but for once, it might not be forever.  What are your thoughts on this potential leak? Are you excited for the game?
