Anime Expo is a convention well known to those fascinated by Japanese pop-culture. From anime to manga to video games, Anime Expo is chock full of brand-new announcements! July 8th marked the twenty-seventh annual Anime Expo, taking place in Torrance, California. The popular Japanese publishing house, Aksys, came in guns blazing, revealing several new video game titles.
Ghost Parade – PS4, Switch, Steam
Ghost Parade is an upcoming 2D action-adventure game following a young girl named Suri. On her way home from school one day, Suri gets lost in an unknown forest. What starts as a desperate attempt to return home, ends up being an adventure to save the forest, and the mysterious creatures that lurk the woods. Ghost Parade will be available in November and is releasing on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Steam.
Fishing Star World Tour – Switch
In Fishing Star World Tour, players travel to many locations, catching over 180 different kinds of Fish. Along the way, pick up 70 different types of fishing gear. Offering traditional controller support, as well as the Joy-Con’s fluid motion controls, Fishing Star World Tour allows players to become an angling master! While the game already released digitally back in January, a physical version is launching this September, exclusively on the Nintendo Switch!
Code: Realize franchise – Switch
Fans of story-based otome games rejoice! Aksys Games has revealed four classic Code: Realize visual-novels coming to the Nintendo Switch. Originally launching on the PlayStation Vita, Guardian of Rebirth and Future Blessings will be the first titles released, followed by Collar X Malice and Collar X Malice -Unlimited. Cardia’s adventures in a steampunk adaptation of Victorian England will be available for the first time on a Nintendo platform next year!
Piofiore, Cafe Enchante – Switch
Two brand-new interactive otome games, Piofiore (working title) and Cafe Enchante, were also debuted at Anime Expo. In Cafe Enchante, a young girl inherits her grandfather’s restaurant. She soon discovers that none of the restaurant’s customers are human. Piofiore follows the adventures of an orphan girl named Lily. Taking place in 20th century Italy, she is forced into the dead center of a Mafia-related war. No release date was given for either title, however, they will both be available on the Nintendo Switch.
Spirit Hunter: NG – PS4, Switch, Steam, PSVita
The second entry in the Spirit Hunter horror visual-novel series, Spirit Hunter: NG, was also announced. Spirit Hunter: NG will force players to fight against evil and make good decisions, to learn the truth behind a mysterious disappearance. Spirit Hunter: NG will be available for digital distribution this October on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Steam, and PlayStation Vita.
