Need for Speed Heat Announced After E3?

Earlier this week new news about an upcoming Need for Speed title was discovered on Reddit. The post detailed a youtube link advertising a countdown to the official announcement of Need for Speed Heat. Prior to the official reveal yesterday afternoon, many followers of the franchise were cynical due to lack of information and the fact that the game was not revealed at E3 2019. The official logo from the game was posted as well but was bland in comparison to prior Need for Speed titles.

Last month, a YouTuber by the handle of LP_RIPPER24 released a copious amount of information related to an unannounced Need for Speed racing title. This information would turn out to be true which could symbolize EA and Ghost Games attempting to reconnect with Need for Speeds roots. In his video, he states that “the game has a 1980’s flavor, open world, and is developed once again by Ghost Games.”

In EA’s official reveal trailer, the viewer is advised at the consequences of getting caught. Need for Speed Heat seems to take place in South West America where the cops are just looking for a reason to pull the driver over. The trailer indicates that the game will be open world but may feature street races and formal races. Car shows might be a new addition to Need for Speed Heat. Fans can look forward to the ability to customize their vehicles and potentially their character in various ways. Hopefully, this Need for Speed’s content will not be locked behind a paywall like Need for Speed Payback.

Below we are including the official trailer of Need for Speed Heat and LP_RIPPER24’s video. It is unusual for EA to not reveal one of their top franchises at E3 2019. One possible reason EA did not reveal Need for Speed Heat at E3 is that they did not want to take the spotlight off of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. A second possible reason for lack of announcement is that the game was not ready to be shown which begs to question why a 2019 release date. The third possible reason is EA did not want any bad press before the release of their sports title or before the highly anticipated Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order released. We will just have to wait and see what was truly behind EA keeping quiet about Need for Speed Heat until now.
