Normally, a sojourn means a temporary stay, maybe a part of a pilgrimage. Not so in the case of The Sojourn which is officially announcing its incoming arrival. The atmospheric, philosophical first-person puzzle game from Shifting Tides and Iceberg Interactive will be showing up right at the start of fall this year. A new release date trailer shows off the game to great effect.
In the world of The Sojourn, players are born into what seems to be a beautiful, pure world. However, darkness seeps through every crack in the pure veneer and forms the very foundation that the beautiful world above is built on. It is the player’s destiny to uncover the hidden truth cloaked in the world’s shadows.
Players’ perceptions of their own reality will be challenged by numerous puzzles built into four carefully crafted chapters. Each chapter has a distinct style and atmosphere.
As seen in the video, the graphics style is similar to the late, lamented Gigantic. Here’s hoping that The Sojourn will fare better, and that its time on our PS4, Xbones, and PCs courtesy of the Epic game store will not be merely a quick visit. There’s also a certain similarity to the chronically underrated Necropolis. We previously covered The Sojourn‘s announcement last year, and it’s always exciting to see a game get launched. To stay up to date with everything leading up the the game’s launch, be sure to keep an eye on the official website at thesojourngame.com.
The Sojourn will be officially released for Microsoft Xbox One, Sony PlayStation®4, and Windows PCs on September 20th, 2019. Console versions are enhanced for owners of the PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X systems.
