WWE 2K20 Universe Mode Gives Players More Freedom

WWE 2K20 Universe Mode Hub

Earlier today, we discussed three new changes coming to WWE 2k20, In the announcement, 2K stated that new changes were coming to online play and MyPlayer mode; specifically, MyPlayer Mode will now feature creatable female wrestlers and changes to the online mode. Players will now have the opportunity to create lobbies and complete daily challenges. For more detailed information, head over to our Online Lobbies Return post. In addition to the previous announcement, 2K has stated that a series of new updates are coming to WWE 2K20 Universe Mode. The WWE Universe is about to expand.

Last year we sat down with WWE 2k19. This is the first WWE title I had played since Smackdown vs Raw 2012. Although WWE 2k19 could be fun at times, it had a bit of a learning curve. The game was more enjoyable when simulating matches or when playing with friends. WWE 2K19’s Universe Mode was rather lackluster and left us asking for more. In fact, other than a few weeks of simulations we pretty much skipped this mode. Hopefully, these new additions will improve WWE 2K20 Universe Mode for the better. So what new features are coming to WWE 2K20’s Universe Mode? Surprisingly a lot. New match limits, custom matches, and promo lines are just a few of the new additions. Below is the official list of changes coming to WWE 2K20 Universe Mode.

New WWE 2K20 Universe Mode Additions!

  • Major and minor show match limits have increased from 7 to 9.
  • Pay-Per-View match limits have doubled from 7 to 14.
  • The number of championship titles per major show has increased from 6 to 7.
  • Simultaneous rivalries on major shows have increased from 3 to 4.
  • Pay-Per-Views can be co-hosted by up to 3 major shows versus the previous 2.
  • Players have more freedom to delete and add promos and matches.
  • 50 of the most-used cutscenes have been reshot with female mocap actors to look more authentic when female Superstars are used.
  • 25 new cutscenes have been added.
  • 3,040 new promo lines are in the game.
  • Custom Matches can now be included in Match Tables, along with new Mixed Tag Matches.
  • New Championship Match setting in Match Tables can be used to make certain matches a title match.
  • Main Event matches in Match Tables have been tweaked so that those match types are more likely to occur on the show (Example: Royal Rumble match at the Royal Rumble Pay-Per-View).
  • New rivalry content includes options such as low-intensity enemies making peace after a single Pay-Per-View or low to mid-intensity allies slowly falling out over several weeks instead of a sudden turn.
  • The overall menu flow has been streamlined to make it more accessible to those new to Universe Mode. All deeper options are still available for experienced players.

Release Date

The new additions to WWE 2K20 Universe Mode sound exciting and maybe a hint as to what is to come in the new future for WWE. Earlier this month, WWE’s NXT debuted on TV so this could possibly be why the Pay-Per-Views system has changed. Interestingly enough, all images for WWE 2K20 have a PlayStation 4 controller being used.  WWE 2K20 is scheduled to be released on October 22nd. 2019 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Windows PC.
