Have you ever listened to a soundtrack for a movie/ video game and said, this soundtrack is perfect? When I look back at all the wrestling games that I have played only one comes to mind; that soundtrack would be from WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2007. The soundtrack featured Godsmack, Three Days Grace, Nonpoint, Rise Against, and Black Stone Cherry. Yes, the soundtrack was a bit rock heavy, but it energized the player for their upcoming matches. Sadly, the announced WWE 2K20 soundtrack fails to do so.
Earlier this week, 2K proclaimed WWE 2K20 IN-GAME SOUNDTRACK WILL BREAK GENRE BOUNDARIES WITH THIS YEAR’S PLAYLIST. Hits from Banks, Bring Me The Horizon, Lil Uzi Vert, The Misfits, Poppy and more provide a backdrop to the action in WWE 2K20. Curiosity peaked, I decided to listen to the said soundtrack. Sadly, all I feel is disappointed. The whole album feels a bit too poppy. Below is the official soundtrack if you want to preview it before WWE 2K20’s official release.
WWE 2K20 Soundtrack
- Banks – “Gimme” – Hell no
- Barns Courtney – “99” nope, to relaxed
- Bring Me The Horizon ft. Dani Filth – “Wonderful Life” – Pumps me up for a match
- Grandson – “Stigmata” – somewhat good once the bass drops
- Lil Uzi Vert – “XOTour Llif3” – it’s alright for general listening but doesn’t pump up
- Motley Crue ft. Machine Gun Kelly – “The Dirt” Great instrumentals and fast-paced but when they slow down the lyrics feel off standing alone.
- Muse – “The Dark Side” – Meh – to slow for a wrestling game. Felt disappointing for Muse song.
- Poppy – “METAL” – The electronic beat detracts from the vocals
- Saweetie – “Icy Girl” – hell to the no – made me cringe within the first 30 seconds and have already decided to shut this song off once the game is started.
- The Black Keys – “LO / HI” – easily forgettable.
- The Misfits – “Hybrid Moments”- Lyrics fit the game, quick-paced, but over to soon. Kind of like a summer fling
- Watt ft. Post Malone – “Burning Man” – A hype song to keep going. Feels like a song that will have you keep pushing through
