Call of Juarez Teased for Switch with Single Image

Call of Juarez Gunslinger Switch Techland featured image

With a single image shared on Twitter, Techland is definitely up to something. Of course, in the image we get a chap kicking back with a Switch and on the Switch appears to be Silas Grieves, the protagonist of Call of Juarez: Gunslinger. The text of the tweet points to October 24th, 12 PM PDT, 9 PM CEST. This likely indicates one of two things: a surprise release or further information.

Now, whether or not this is a port of Gunslinger or something else is up in the air, but a port of that game seems the most likely. There were some publishing troubles with Ubisoft in the past or something that led to the game being removed from Xbox 360, PS3, and Steam marketplaces. The game was relisted in April 2018, where Techland became the publisher. Due to the recent nature of this, it seems extremely likely that Gunslinger is coming to Switch. Hopefully, we get more than a straight port with some extra features, bug fixes, and the like.

While a port is the most obvious guess, it would be great to see these games all come to modern consoles via a collection or something. Outside the realm of re-releases, the world could always use more cowboy games so a new title in the series would be welcome. I’ve seen lots of players say that Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2 is brilliant but sometimes too detailed for its own good, resulting in aspects that dull the game side of the experience.

A new Call of Juarez could fill that void for those looking for a cowboy game with less detail but overall more gaming fun. This all could be a way for Techland to gauge interest on the brand.

Either way it looks like we’ll get something later this week from Techland.
