Almost two years have passed since the release of Sea of Thieves. Earlier this year, Rare and Microsoft announced that a special Spartan themed ship would be hitting the high seas in celebration of Halo Reach joining the Master Chief Collection. That ship would be called The Spartan Ship. Over the last year, Microsoft has enabled cross-brand content for a majority of its properties. This can easily be seen in Forza Horizon 4, State of Decay 2, and Gears 5 free additional content. Potentially in celebration of Gears 5‘s success, Rare has announced a free Gears of War event coming to Sea of Thieves.
Starting today, players will have the opportunity to unlock a new set of gear. The Omen Ship Set will be completely free to Sea of Thieves players; all pirates have to do is play. The Omen Ship Set will be free starting today and will be available until November 22nd. In a Twitter post earlier today, Rare announced the Gears of War inspired sails would hit the high seas. In collaboration with the Coalition, the new Crimson Omen Ship will give players a ship that would make Queen Myrah jealous. The new Omen ship set contains a new Hull, Sails, Flag, and Figurehead.
Look at all that ship! We're proud to reveal the @GearsOfWar-inspired Omen Ship Set, made in collaboration with the lovely lot @CoalitionGears! To unlock the Omen Hull, Sails, Flag and Figurehead, simply play Sea of Thieves any time between now and Friday November 22nd. pic.twitter.com/Zhz3MyNMKU

Return to Sea of Thieves
It is great to see Rare still supporting Sea of Thieves but I can not remember a time that I have been excited to jump on the game outside of E3 Xbox Fanfest. With this new addition, we will attempt to set sail yet again. Hopefully, new content has been added to keep it fresh. We will just have to wait and see. After the game’s announcement at E3 2015, Sea of Thieves gave pirate fanatics hope for a seven seas adventure. Sadly, the game did not live up to expectations after a troublesome start.
