Kingdom Hearts Franchise Coming to Xbox One

Kingdom Hearts to PC

If ten years ago you told me that a Kingdom Hearts game would be on a Microsoft product, I would have said you are out of your damn mind. Last year, for the first time ever, a Kingdom Hearts title released on the Xbox One. Although Kingdom Hearts 3 did not live up to players’ expectations, it did prove that Xbox players are interested in JRPGs being on Xbox devices. Earlier today at the Microsoft X019 event in London, SQUARE ENIX and Disney announced that the beloved KINGDOM HEARTS franchise will be released on the Xbox One family of devices including Xbox One X in 2020.

Over the last twenty years, Kingdom Hearts has developed a cult following. This following would cause Square Enix to create one of the most beloved franchises in the last fifty years. In the announcement earlier today, Square Enix revealed that KINGDOM HEARTS III surpassed five million shipments and digital sales worldwide. Because of this success, Square Enix and Disney have decided to release Kingdom Hearts 1.5, 2.5, and 2.8 on the Xbox family in 2020. Two compilations will be released granting gamers the opportunity to pick up both KINGDOM HEARTS HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX and KINGDOM HEARTS HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue within the coming year.

In addition, gamers who have yet to purchase Kingdom Hearts 3 will have the opportunity to download the Kingdom Hearts 3 demo and transfer their save if they purchase the full game. Starting today and going until November 22nd, Kingdom Hearts III‘s base version will be 67% off. For those who have never played a Kingdom Hearts title, the Kingdom Hearts III demo contains “Memory Archive” videos to help the player catch up in the story and figure out what is unraveling.

The Kingdom Hearts III demo will allow keyblade wielders to explore the magical worlds of Hercules and Toy Story. The demo is available as a free download on the Xbox One family of devices and PlayStation 4. In the demo, players will face off against the formidable Rock Titan in the picturesque, yet dangerous, world of Olympus from Disney’s Hercules. Players can also team up with beloved characters Buzz and Woody from Toy Story to take down the Heartless and explore Galaxy Toys.
