Every year fundraising event Extra Life seeks out to raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. The fundraising usually consists of groups teaming up to live stream 24-hour long game sessions. The proceeds of any donations, during those streams, goes directly towards helping the children. While streaming is usually how proceeds are obtained, some groups like to auction off merch. These items can vary from developer autographed merchandise to rare and expensive video games.
eBay user bullmoose207 decided to put up for auction a kind Super Nintendo collectible. We’re not talking a $280 sealed copy of Yoshi’s Island, or a $500 sealed copy of Donkey Kong Country. We are talking about a near-mint factory sealed copy of Square’s role-playing classic Secret of Mana. Retro game collectors are willing to fork out some serious cash to acquire factory sealed games. Secret of Mana is one game many Super Nintendo collectors treasure. Complete in box copies of the game can net upwards of $200 USD and don’t get me started when it’s graded.
“We are offering a SEALED copy of the classic SNES JRPG Secret of Mana with 100% of proceeds being donated to Extra Life to help support the Children’s Miracle Network. This copy was traded into one of our stores last spring, and to the best of our knowledge the shrink wrap is the authentic original; it even has a hanger tab on the back! Although it has not been professionally graded, the box itself is in very good condition with no indented corners or tears in the shrink wrap. This would be an excellent centerpiece to anyone’s collection and it’s all for a good cause.” (eBay Listing)
While the estimated value the sealed gem is expected to go for is unclear, the auction still has 4 days remaining. Any serious Super Nintendo collector fancying a once in a life-time chance to win a Sealed copy of Secret of Mana, while also donating money to a good cause, should check out the eBay listing.
